and sustainable materials, inside and out;
Textiles are SKAL certified and dyed with
low-impact dyes.
Each bag is lined with a cotton/hemp black lining and organic cotton batting for extra stability.
All textile prints are created and designed in-house using
100% solvent free water based inks specially formulated with the environment in mind.
Bag bottoms are cut from recycled tetra boxes
and handles are made using stiff hemp webbing.
Organic Cotton
Regular cotton is one of the most heavily sprayed crops in the
world. From the early stages of sowing the cotton to the final
process of fabric, the cotton is subjected to large amounts
of chemical pesticides, fertilizers, toxic waxes, chemicals and
even formaldehyde. All of which get into the air, the earth and
the water with negative impacts on the environment and workers.
Organic cotton is grown using methods and materials that have
a low impact on the environment. Organic production systems replenish
and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent
pesticides and fertilizers, and build biologically diverse agriculture.
Hemp
Hemp requires no pesticides, crowds out weeds without herbicides, controls erosion of the topsoil, and produces oxygen. It is a renewable resource that can be cultivated in as little
as 100 days and is the worlds most versatile fiber.
Cruelty Free
Plain and simple, fashion should be cruelty-free. With the belief
that all animals should be treated with compassion and respect,
no products derived from animals are ever used for sparrow handbags.
this includes leather, fur, wool and silk.
How to Care for you Bag
We recommend that you do not wash your handbag in a machine, by hand or dry clean. Although the colours and inks are colour fast it is still possible for the colours to fade and the inks to run if washed. Instead we advise to spot clean your handbags only with water and a small amount of soap for persistent stains.
